Between November 2023 and March 2024 I undertook a paid research assistant role with the Monash Vision Group and Professor Yan Wong. I worked on a project titles "Restoring Vision to the Blind"
Throughout my time there I gained skills literature analysis, and learned how to find gaps in knowledge that would be beneficial to research. I also further developed skills in individual working and idea generation, team work and organisation, and time management.
My three minute research presentation
Specifically my project focused around modelling electrical stimulations in the brain.
I fit real world neuroscience data to a multivariable computational model
Parameters of the model included brain resistivity, current flow equations, neuron densities, neural connections, electrode positions, electrode current amplitude etc.
It was found that strong neural connections and equations of current flow had the most profound impact in matching the model to data
Research was communicated via a three minute video presentation and a poster presentation where I had to explain my research live and answer questions
